"One of the most successful wine of Xavier Vignon" according to Robert Parker.

This cuvée comes from the heart of the Lirac appellation, with a clay subsoil and pebbles on the surface that give this wine a little minerality.

92/100 - PARKER
“One of Vignon's better efforts, the 2016 Lirac showcases ripe fruit, ranging from raspberries and cherries to hints of stone fruit. Yet, it's not over the top or simply fruity. This full-bodied wine adds hints of leather, garrigue and licorice along the way, evolving from creamy to velvety on the palate and through the lasting finish."

Terroir

Lirac is one of the most southern crus of the Rhône Valley. The appellation covers the best soils of four communes in the Gard and is presented in three colours.

This Xavier Vignon Lirac is made from a selection of 12 parcels located in the appellation. The soils of the selected parcels are mainly made up of rolled pebbles and clay.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification

Manual harvest

Determination of harvest dates by daily measurement of polyphenols in the berries.

Fermentation at moderate temperature to favor soft diffusion of flavor compounds.

100% free-run juice, with extraction by gravity (no passage of the marc in the press).

Ageing

100% of the Grenache is vinified and matured in concrete tanks.

30% of the Syrah is matured in unheated barrels (Allier and Vosges) for 12 months in order to respect the sweetness without adding structure.

The rest is matured in concrete tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit
