With its generous and complex wines, the 2000 vintage was a great success for the Cornas appellation.

Appearance
Intense red

Nose
Aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry

Palate
Notes of black fruits with a spicy and peppery aftertaste. A fresh finish with notes of licorice. Nice acidity.

Terroir

The distinguishing feature of the Cornas vineyard lies in its particular amphitheater shape. It is believed that the Rhône River has shaped the appellation and carved out a very steep incline right inside it.

The soil is shallow and composed mostly of massive granites rich in potassium, iron, and magnesium. It also enjoys a microclimate created by a combination of sun and mistral wind.

Vinification and ageing

Vinification

Hand-harvested and vinified in whole grapes.

Extended maceration to obtain a concentrated wine built for years of aging, with an almost intense red color.

Ageing

Extended maturation in large new and old tuns, favoring the softening of the tannins and limiting the contribution of woody notes.

Bottled in 2022
