To kick the back to work on the right foot, here are some essentials that should definitely be on your wish list. I'm talking about those comforting bottles that pair beautifully with just about any occasion.
As the person in charge of the Xavier Vignon boutique and our wine tourism events, and as a deeply passionate sommelier, I'm excited to share my top four favorites with you. Given my intimate knowledge of our wines and being a local, I also have a few tips on the best ways to enjoy them. Let's dive in!
Here are four wines that I simply can't do without. They're not only customer favorites in the shop but also hold a special place in my heart as some of Xavier Vignon's finest creations.
2021 red Organic Vacqueyras: This vintage stands out for its fresh and delicate notes. I enjoy it regularly, and every sip reaffirms its exquisite taste. Its fruitiness and rich flavors make it a wine that is perfect as an aperitif. I love serving it at the start of a meal because of its delightful smoothness. Pair it with some truffle toasts, and you're all set.
SM Côtes du Rhône: This wine's blend is captivating. It combines juices from the northern and southern Rhône Valley, featuring two grape varieties (Syrah and Grenache) from two vintages. It made a lasting impression when I first tried it five years ago, especially with its freshness and irresistible taste. I greatly admire Xavier Vignon's innovative and unique approach, which challenges traditional wine norms. This particular wine stands out from the crowd. Its playful name even carries my initials! It’s both affordable and delightful to taste.
Arcane l'Etoile: This wine hails from the Beaumes-de-Venise terroir and showcases a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre from multiple vintages. Its velvety texture, long-lasting taste, and controlled strength are astounding. With its perfectly mellow tannins and intricate delicacy despite the rich concentration, it's truly a marvel! It also happens to be our best-selling red at the boutique. Beaumes is renowned not just for its Muscat but also for its flavorful and surprising dry red wines, much like this one.
L'Esprit Français Vendémiaire II: This wine completely won me over. A French wine blending Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre from various vintages, it was crafted in collaboration with over 100 winemakers. Beyond its collective spirit, it encapsulates the best of the Rhône Valley. I'm especially enamored by the harmony between its strength and balance. It's been a while since I came across such intense concentration paired with such vibrant fruitiness, displaying hints of black currant and a zesty spark. A true masterpiece!
