A declaration of love from Xavier Vignon to the Southern Rhône Valley and the extraordinary 2016 vintage!
A blend of five crus to match the roundness one one with the structure, the freshness, the aromatics and the deepness of the others.
94/100 - PARKER
"A blend of lots from five different Southern Rhône crus (and hence declassified to Côtes du Rhône), the 2016 Cotes du Rhone. Arcane VI Les Amourcaux is a stunning effort, showcasing raspberry and strawberry fruit, a silky-creamy texture and lush, mouthwatering flavors. No, it doesn't speak of the individual terroirs (Beaumes de Venise, Gigondas, Lirac, Rasteau, Vacqueyras), but it delivers sheer deliciousness."
94+/100 - JEB DUNNUCK
"Sourced from parcels in Lirac, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Rasteau, and higher elevation sites in Beaumes de Venise, the 2016 Côtes du Rhône Arcane Vi Les Amoureux (mostly Grenache) offers an awesome bouquet of black cherries, blackberries, pepper, garrigue, and olives. Beautifully textured, balanced, and layered, with fabulous purity, it's a rocking wine that has loads of fruit, yet has the purity and elegance that makes this vintage so special. Drink it over the coming 15-20 years."
93/100 - JAMES SUCKLING
Red berries, red flowers and a berry-pastry edge to the nose, making for an attractive offering. The palate has a super juicy feel with succulent, vibrant raspberry and red-plum flavors, carrying long on silky, powerful tannins. Impressive. Drink or hold.
For the first time, five « crus » are blended at the same time to express their unique tipicity, freeing themselves from the constraints for a well balanced blend.
- Lirac is deep, round, silky, with a good mid-palate (mostly syrah).
- Gigondas brings structure, a powerful juice with concentrated tannins.
- Beaumes-de-Venise brings pleasant notes, fruity and fresh. Juices come from the Saint Amand Hill (600 meters above sea level, highest point of the Dentelles de Montmirail).
- Vacqueyras is more aromatic, it brings notes of garrigue, floral notes and a certain sweetness.
- Rasteau expresses its deep terroir with structured tannins.
Vinification
Determination of harvest dates by daily tasting of the berries combined with phenolic analysis.
Manual harvest.
Long maceration without mechanical extraction.
Ageing
The wine has been mainly matured in concrete tanks in order to preserve the purity of the fruit and the different terroirs' tipicity.
